Be honest. At some point, you probably had a drawer full of dead disposables. Maybe the battery gave up while there was still juice inside. Or maybe the flavour wore thin halfway through a busy week, so you grabbed another one. Either way, every one of them ended up in a bin somewhere.

That habit added up fast. Back in 2023, Material Focus estimated that nearly 5 million single-use vapes were thrown away in the UK every week. Now that the disposable era is over, one fair question remains. If you switch to a Pyne Pod Click, how many disposables does it actually replace?

So we grabbed a calculator. Here's the waste math, with every number shown and every assumption explained.

The Quick Answer

One Pyne Pod Click 50K starter kit holds 36ml of e-liquid. That's the same amount of liquid as 18 old-style 2ml disposables. However, instead of 18 sealed batteries, it runs on one rechargeable Click battery. After that, each replacement pod set adds another 12ml. That works out at six more disposables' worth of liquid, with no new battery attached.

Why Disposables Created So Much Waste

First, a little background. UK rules cap a vape's tank at 2ml. As a result, a legal disposable could only ever hold 2ml of liquid, which typically meant around 600 puffs.

The real problem was the design. Each disposable sealed a lithium battery inside a plastic shell, and you couldn't recharge it or refill it. So once the liquid ran out, the whole device became rubbish, battery and all. Worse still, many ended up in household bins. There, crushed batteries can start fires in bin lorries and recycling centres.

That's why the UK banned the sale of single-use vapes from 1 June 2025. Today, a vape on sale needs a rechargeable battery and a container you can replace or refill. The Pyne Pod Click range meets that standard with a rechargeable battery and replaceable prefilled pods.

How We Did the Maths (and Why We Used Millilitres)

Good maths starts with fair rules. So here are ours.

  • We measured liquid, not puffs. Puff counts shift with how long you draw and which power mode you use. Millilitres, on the other hand, stay fixed. That makes them the fairest way to compare a disposable with a Click pod.
  • We compared against a full 2ml disposable. That's the legal maximum, so it gives disposables the most generous comparison possible. If yours ever died early, your real number could be higher.
  • We counted devices and batteries, not carbon. This is a like-for-like count of the hardware you'd get through. It isn't a full life-cycle or carbon footprint study, so we won't pretend it is.

The Waste Math, Model by Model

Pyne Pod Click 50K: 18 Disposables' Worth in One Kit

Each Click 50K kit contains three 2ml pods and three 10ml auto-refill containers. That adds up to 36ml of e-liquid in one box. Divide 36 by 2, and you get 18. In other words, one kit holds the same liquid as 18 disposables. Better still, all of it runs through a single 750mAh rechargeable battery. Compare that with 18 batteries sealed inside 18 plastic shells.

Pyne Pod Click 10K: Six Disposables' Worth per Pod Set

The Click 10K pairs one 2ml pod with a 10ml refill container, giving you 12ml in total. That's six disposables' worth of liquid. The 10K and 50K share the same pod format. So it's also the easiest way to picture every replacement pod set you'll buy.

Every Pod Set After That

This is where the maths gets satisfying. Once you own a Click battery, you only replace the pod and its container. Each 12ml set equals six more disposables' worth of liquid. Meanwhile, your battery count stays at one.

What you buy E-liquid Disposables' worth (2ml each) Batteries
Pyne Pod Click 50K starter kit 36ml 18 1 rechargeable
Pyne Pod Click 10K starter kit 12ml 6 1 rechargeable
One replacement pod set 12ml 6 No new battery
Three replacement pod sets 36ml 18 No new battery

Work Out Your Own Number

Want a personal figure? The formula is refreshingly simple. First, count how many disposables you used to get through in a week. Then divide that number by six. The answer is roughly how many Click pod sets you'd use each week instead.

For example, let's say you used to finish six disposables a week. Over a year, that's 312 devices, each with its own sealed battery. Switch to Click, and the same 624ml of liquid arrives in 52 pod sets. Crucially, none of those 52 sets brings a new battery with it.
Of course, everyone vapes differently, so treat this as a rough guide. Even so, the direction is clear: fewer devices and far fewer batteries.

The Honest Bit: What Click Still Leaves Behind

We promised to show every assumption, so here's the part most brands skip. Click pods and refill containers still become waste once they're empty. In fact, Material Focus's 2026 research counts vapes and pods together. It estimates that around 6 million are still thrown away every week.

So switching to Click cuts the number of batteries you bin, and recycling takes care of the rest. Each Click pod also contains a small mesh coil. For that reason, empty pods belong with vape recycling rather than your kitchen bin. The good news? Recycling them properly takes about as long as buying them.

Where to Recycle Vapes, Pods and Batteries

Recycling your Click gear is easy once you know where to go. Here are your best options.

  • Ask where you buy. A UK retailer that sells vapes may take back old ones for recycling. So next time you pick up pods, bring your empties along.
  • Use your local tip. All household waste and recycling centres have bins for electricals and batteries.
  • Check with your council. Some councils collect small electricals with your regular waste collection or by arrangement.

Just as importantly, never put a vape, pod or battery in your household bin or mixed recycling. And if a pod still has liquid inside, finish it first instead of pouring it down the sink. Eventually, your Click battery will reach the end of its life too. When it does, take it to an electricals recycling point.

One Battery for the Whole Click Range

One more detail keeps your battery count low. The Universal Click battery works across the Pyne Pod Click range. So if you fancy the dual-flavour Click S 30K pods, you can click them onto the battery you already own. Keep in mind that it's designed for Pyne Pod Click pods only, not other brands' pods.

That matters for the waste math. Many pod systems tie you to one device per pod style, which means more hardware over time. We explain why that's worth avoiding in our guide to pod lock-in.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many disposables does a Pyne Pod Click 50K replace?

By liquid volume, one Click 50K kit holds 36ml. That matches 18 old-style 2ml disposables. Plus, it runs on one rechargeable battery instead of 18 sealed ones.

Are disposable vapes still sold in the UK?

No. Selling or supplying single-use vapes has been illegal across the UK since 1 June 2025. Rechargeable devices with replaceable pods, like the Pyne Pod Click, remain on sale.

Can I recycle Pyne Pod Click pods?

Yes. Take empty pods, containers and old batteries to a vape takeback point in store or to your local recycling centre. Please don't put them in your household bin.

Why compare by millilitres instead of puffs?

Puff counts vary with draw length and power mode. Millilitres stay the same. That makes liquid volume the fairest like-for-like measure.
