Spotted a new sticker on vape packs this month? Or noticed that some prices haven't budged at all? Good news first: the vape tax is here, and your Click works exactly as it did before. So let's cover what's changed since 1 October, what hasn't, and the dates worth knowing next. After that, we'll show you why the Click range and our new Pyne Pod Nic Salts fit this new chapter so well.

Key takeaways

  • The Vaping Products Duty started on October 1st, 2026 at £2.20 per 10ml of vaping liquid.
  • It taxes the liquid, not the hardware. So your Click battery carries no duty at all.
  • Shops can sell older unstamped stock until March 31st, 2027, which is why prices may look uneven for a while.
  • From October 29th, 2026, every vape is 18+ and free samples come to an end.
  • From April 1st, 2027, every vape on sale needs a valid duty stamp.

What's changed since the vape tax started

Let's start with the numbers. The duty adds 22p for every millilitre of vaping liquid, which works out at £2.20 per 10ml. It's a flat rate, so a 5mg bottle and a 20mg bottle carry exactly the same duty. Nicotine-free liquid pays it too. VAT then applies on top, as it always has.

Next, there's the duty stamp. New vaping products made in or brought into the UK now carry one on the retail packaging. Think of it as a tick from HMRC: it shows the product has come through the proper, duty-paid route.

Want the bigger picture? We explained why the government introduced the duty in why there's a vape tax. We also broke down how the vape tax affects each format, from pods to big bottles.

What hasn't changed for your Pyne Pod

Plenty, and that's the good bit. Your Click device works the same way. Your battery charges the same way. And your daily routine stays exactly as easy as it was in September.

On top of that, the duty only touches liquid. Devices and batteries sit outside it completely. That makes the Universal Click battery an even smarter buy, because it works across the whole Pyne Pod Click range. You keep the battery, then simply click in a fresh pod whenever you fancy.

Our flavours, formulas and nicotine strengths haven't changed either. The duty adds a tax at the till. It doesn't change what's inside the pod.

Why some vape prices haven't gone up yet

Good question, and there's a simple answer. HMRC gave shops a six-month grace period. During it, retailers can keep selling unstamped stock that was made or imported before October 1st. Any new stock they buy, though, has to carry a duty stamp.

As a result, one shop might still be selling older stock while another has already moved to stamped stock. So you may see different prices on similar products for a while. That's normal during the changeover. We'll dig into this properly in an upcoming post.

The dates that matter next

The duty was step one. Three more dates follow, and here's what each one means for you.

October 29th, 2026: every vape becomes 18+

From October 29th, it's an offence to sell any vaping or nicotine product to anyone under 18. That now includes nicotine-free vapes and nicotine pouches, which sat outside the old rules. Buying one for someone under 18 also becomes an offence.

At the same time, free samples and promotional giveaways come to an end. GOV.UK guidance also restricts selling these products at substantial discounts. In short, vaping stays firmly an adult choice, and that's a change we welcome.

January 1st, 2027: smarter stamps on new stock

From the new year, new vaping products need duty stamps with digital features built in. In practice, that means a physical label with a scannable code. Older transitional stamps can still appear on stock already out there, so don't worry if you see both.

March 31st and April 1st, 2027: stamps on everything

The grace period ends on the 31st of March 2027. Then, from 1st of April 2027, every vaping product on sale in the UK needs a valid duty stamp. HMRC's advice to shoppers is simple: buy duty-stamped products.

Date What changes What it means for you
1 October 2026 Vaping Products Duty and duty stamps begin 22p per ml on vaping liquid; new stock carries a stamp
29 October 2026 18+ for every vape; free samples end Expect ID checks on all vapes, including 0mg
1 January 2027 Digital-feature stamps on new products New packs carry a stamp with a scannable code
1 April 2027 Stamps required on all vapes on sale Unstamped stock has left the shelves

Your Pyne Pod lineup, built for the new rules

Here's the exciting part. The new rules reward clever choices, and the Pyne Pod lineup gives you two great ways to vape.

The Click range: keep the battery, swap the flavour

We built the Click range around one simple idea. You buy the battery once, then you change the flavour whenever you like. Pick the compact Click 10K, the dual-flavour Click S 30K or the Click 50K, which comes in three-pod packs. They all share the same Universal Click battery, which carries no duty.

Each Click pod is replaceable, and it comes with a 2ml tank plus a matching 10ml bottle that clicks straight in to keep that flavour going. The Click S 30K pod doubles up, with two 1ml tanks and two 8ml bottles, one for each flavour. So you pay duty on the liquid you actually vape, and never on hardware you don't need to replace. In other words, the Click system made sense before the duty. Now, it makes even more.

Meet Pyne Pod Nic Salts: the flavours you love, now bottled

Our newest launch brings Pyne Pod flavour to your refillable kit. Pyne Pod Nic Salts come in 10ml bottles with a smooth 50/50 blend. You can choose from 5mg, 10mg or 20mg, across 20 flavours, including Fresh Mint, Frozen Peach and Strawberry Watermelon.

They're made for refillable MTL pod kits. So they sit alongside your Click rather than inside it, because Click pods are replaceable rather than refillable. Each 10ml bottle carries the same £2.20 duty as any other 10ml bottle. That means you can pick by flavour and strength, and let the tax take care of itself.

We'll tell the full launch story next week. Until then, take a look at the Pyne Pod Nic Salts range.

Frequently asked questions

Has the vape tax started?

Yes. The Vaping Products Duty started on 1 October 2026. It adds £2.20 for every 10ml of vaping liquid sold in the UK, whatever the nicotine strength, and VAT applies on top. New stock also carries a duty stamp, while shops can sell older unstamped stock until 31 March 2027.

Does the vape tax apply to my Click battery?

No. The duty applies to vaping liquid only, so devices and batteries carry none. Your Universal Click battery works across the Pyne Pod Click range, so you can keep it and simply swap pods. That way, you only pay duty on the liquid you actually vape.

Why are some shops still selling vapes without a duty stamp?

HMRC gave retailers a grace period until 31 March 2027. During it, shops can sell unstamped stock that was made or imported before 1 October 2026. Any new stock they buy must carry a stamp. From 1 April 2027, every vape on sale needs a valid duty stamp.

What changes on 29 October 2026?

From 29 October, it's an offence to sell any vaping or nicotine product to anyone under 18, including nicotine-free vapes and nicotine pouches. Buying one for someone under 18 also becomes an offence. On top of that, free samples and promotional giveaways end, and substantial discounts face new restrictions.

Can I use Pyne Pod Nic Salts in my Click?

No. Pyne Pod Nic Salts are 10ml bottles made for refillable MTL pod kits. Click pods are replaceable rather than refillable, and each one comes with its own matching bottle that clicks in. So you get Pyne Pod flavour in both formats, with each one built for its own kit.

Ready for the new chapter?

The rules have changed, but the good stuff hasn't. Your Click still clicks, your flavours still deliver, and now there's a bottled way to enjoy them too. So explore the Click S 30K, find your next favourite pod, or meet Pyne Pod Nic Salts.

Keep the battery. Swap the flavour.
